The rematch between Palutena and Lucina was a titanic affair. It was in part due to the sheer amount of food that was being churned out, but also due to the girth of the massive competitors.

Palutena had never been the sort to let a defeat go unanswered, and Lucina wasn't about to give up her ever-widening championship belt without a fight.

Both the goddess of light and the princess from the future had decided to reenact their final feast from the eat off, and it was obvious that Palutena had been training quite vigorously for the event, as her twenty-third hotdog, in as many seconds, vanished into her gullet.

“It seems you’ve practiced.” Lucina was busy, enjoying herself immensely as she shoveled down slices of cake by the dozen.

“Quite a bit!” Palutena grinned. “After our little eating session I wanted to enjoy myself more, so I began cooking. However, Pit decided it was best that he cook instead after I made some of my more…adventurous dishes. Since then, I’ve learned to eat much more much more quickly.

Lucina nodded. One glance at Palutena provided more than enough evidence that she'd been practicing. The goddess of light had gone from svelte to plump to nearly matching Lucina's vast girth, her copious flesh wobbling as her fat laden arms rested upon the numerous rolls that rose like dough from her midsection. It was still easy to see the expression of joy on the green haired Goddess’s face when she consumed the peach cobbler placed before her.

Lucina smiled, however. “It's true that you've gotten better since our last match, but you're not the only one who's been training. Thanks to Robin, I've also gotten better...and, we both know that's saying something.”

“Then we will have to see which of us is superior in terms of dining.” Palutena smirked before opening her maw wide, in order to fully enjoy a big, juicy, triple decker burger.

The eating between the two lasted for quite some time, with both Lucina and Palutena trying to out eat each other. Still, things were kept light and the two of them lost count of who had eaten more than the other. Though the match had been called a draw, neither of the enlarged ladies were complaining. After all, Robin rather enjoyed Lucina's new figure and, when she "added an inch for her man", as Palutena sometimes put it, he was always...properly appreciative.

After half an hour of talk and a little time to digest their food, the two had to go on their own paths. As Lucina and Palutena separated from each other, Lucina noticed a woman sitting outside. The woman was strikingly beautiful and elegant. Her hair was a light, teal blue color and her eyes were slightly lighter than Lucina’s own. Something about her seemed so familiar.“Excuse me, miss?”

“Hm?”

"I'm sorry to intrude, miss. It's just that you seem very familiar to me, but I can't put my finger on it. I hope you will pardon my staring. I am Lucina of Ylisse, and you are?"

“Oh. It is a pleasure, Lucina. I am Eirika of Renais…Though I do not believe that there are many who know of me in these lands.

Lucina’s eyes widened with surprise, just as she looked at the woman. She had guessed there was a reason she didn’t recognize her, all the tales of the Restoration Queen depicted her as a lady of lean proportions. Her figure was vast and wide, with her long, teal hair looking luxurious. Her face was cherubic, almost the epitome of serene grace, though she wore wide, golden armor over a stylish, but simple ensemble.

“Of course, the Restoration Queen! I can’t believe I didn’t recognize you! Your exploits and those of your brother are things of legend.”

“So…You do know of me?”

"Yes, and of your campaign against Grado and the Demon King...," Lucina sobered, however, when she recalled what else she knew of the Restoration Queen.

As Lucina herself had learned, the price of becoming a legend was sometimes costly.

"My sincerest condolences over your father and Prince Lyon," she added, more than a bit of empathy in her tone.

“It’s…Quite alright. My friends and I did all we could, and at the end of the day we were able to save many…I hold that close to my heart.”

"Yes, your story is a true inspiration... But, milady, what brings you here? And, for that matter, is something amiss? You seem a bit perturbed."

"I'm guessing you're familiar with the Stomach Buster Contest?"

"What gave me away?" Lucina asked, using the joking and playful tone Robin had been encouraging of late as she pointedly gave herself a jiggle.

"The leader boards, actually," Eirika replied. "While I was here, I met another woman, the Songstress Azura. She asked if I wanted to be her training partner, and I saw no harm in it. Some of my knights use such rivalries to encourage themselves to become better. So, we had regular training meals - a term I use loosely, since each one was a veritable smorgasbord - and, eventually, we were pitted against each other in a match."

"I see. Pardon me for saying so, but I take it you lost?"

"Sadly, yes. And, I swear, I feel ready to explode. Swallowing catapult stones wouldn't have made my stomach ache this much!"

“Oh…I am familiar with that pain, but I also know how to alleviate it.” Lucina offered her hands out to Eirika. “May I?”

“Certainly.”

Carefully, Lucina reached out with her plump hands and placed them on the soft expanse that was Eirika’s flesh. Soon, her hands were over the other royal’s belly and she began to knead and massage it, gently and tenderly. Lucina drew upon the experience that came from being cared for by Robin. She remembered the gentle touch of his fingers. She knew that him rubbing and gliding his hands over her belly was exciting for him (and herself), but she also knew that it really did make her feel better when she had eaten too much too quickly.

True enough, it was of great help for Eirika, who was already giving moans of relief as she felt the pain in her overfilled stomach subside. She had to admit that feeling Lucina’s gentle rubbing and caressing was certainly comforting. Soon, Eirika was openly sighing in relief.

“You are quite talented at this, miss Lucina. Thank you…Though I must ask…Are you royalty as well?”

“Yes, how could you tell?

"Your tiara, for starters. However, we've also seen each other before. You may recall how we have crossed paths in the Outrealms?"

Lucina blinked in surprise. "You remember that? But, I thought the versions of Eirika I met there were only ghosts, not...well, you."

"You're partially right," Eirika continued. "The einherjar cards summoned my consciousness, so I was at least present in spirit. But, the connection did not allow me to speak or act freely. I do remember that you were an outstanding fighter...though I'm certain you were much more slender back then."

Lucina began to blush. “It is a long story, milady.”

“I have time if you would tell me, Princess Lucina.”

"Well, do you recall my talking about the future I came from during the time your einherjar was amongst the Shepherds?" At Eirika's nod, Lucina went on. "Well, in the future from which I traveled back through time, Grima did more than raise legions of undead. He also tainted soil and water alike, so that nothing could grow. I was used to food being scarce, and what little we found having to be divided, not to mention the likelihood that there'd be none the next day. So, whenever I did have food, I always cleared my plate. I guess that instinct never really went away."

"I understand," Eirika answered. "Before the War of the Stones, I'd never so much as held a sword. Nowadays, I get chills if I so much as leave my room without at least having a dagger strapped to my belt. Caused a bit of an upset at the last royal ball."

"That sounds like a story worth hearing," Lucina opined with a giggle. "Anyway, when I returned to the past, before that calamity happened, I never left so much as a crumb untouched, and sometimes I made sure to stock up on extra helpings in the Shepherds' mess hall. That instinct hadn't gone away, even after Grima had, so it carried over when I reached the Smash Realms. With cooks like Peach, Mr. Game and Watch, and even Kirby, it became much easier to indulge myself.”

“That sounds like it was at least a pleasant turn of events.”

“It was, and I would often fill my plate, and then my stomach, as much as I could in case the bountiful kitchen was bare the next day. Admittedly, many of comrades I met in the era I traveled to, the parents of my own companions, were surprised by my appetite. But, in time, they grew accustomed to it. Even after they had reassured me that a shortage of food wouldn't happen, I still hadn't been able to stop. Whether it was the rich flavors, pleasing textures, the sheer variety and the novelty of all the dishes, or even the sensation of being so stuffed, the result had been the same.” Lucina could feel her mouth practically watering as she continued to tell the tale. “I had not realized that the growth I had undergone from my admittedly freewheeling gluttony would prove more lasting than the sort caused by those strange red dotted mushrooms.”

“Strange to consider. Perhaps those would taste delectable.”

"Oh, they certainly do. I'd be delighted to exchange recipes and such later... Though, that does raise the question of how you became so...sizable?"

“Oh, it’s a silly story. In fact, I must have spent too much time around Jehenna’s crown prince, Joshua. My condition is due to the fact that I lost a bet.” Eirika then stared at Lucina. “Have you heard of my brother, Ephraim?”

“Of course.”

“Well, after the War of the Stones, Grado was decimated by terrible landslides that, literally, wiped entire towns and villages off the map. Prince Lyon, who was our friend before the war, had foreseen it would happen and sold his soul for what he thought was the power to prevent it. In any case, Ephraim wanted to honor Lyon's sacrifice and save as many lives as he could, so he personally led the efforts to restore Grado.”

“Hence your titles.”

"Yes. What surprised me more, though, was that Ephraim also wanted to reestablish the government in Grado. With Lyon and his father, Emperor Vigarde, both dead, and with Imperial Court gone as well, that meant literally building a new government from scratch."

"That's...rather ambitious."

"Indeed. At first, I though Ephraim was joking. He never showed any interest in ruling our own kingdom, let alone another that was all but ruined. But, he was determined. He even made a wager with me. If he succeeded in getting Grado back on its feet, he'd win. And, if he failed or had to ask for help, I'd win."

“And I take it he won?” Lucina asked, literally quivering with anticipation.

"Oh, he did us one better! He did such an outstanding job that, just a few months ago, the provisional council voted to crown him as the new emperor. I was invited to his coronation, and it astonished me what he'd been able to achieve, not just in rebuilding Grado but in winning the hearts of the people. I was so proud of him...," here, Eirika's expression took on a look of familial pride before she seemed to turn green and her next words came out as a shrill squeak of dismay. "And then he decided to collect his winnings."

"This is going where I think it is, isn't it?" Lucina asked, eyeing Eirika's expansive paunch.

"Yes. Apparently, Ephraim discovered an Outrealm Gate in Grado. He used one to travel to these so-called Smash Realms and, true to form, he loved every minute of watching eclectic characters braining each other. He actually wanted to enter the fighting tournament, but lost his qualification match to a veteran competitor. A very strange man with a blue ensemble and yellow boots who-"

"Is always belting out "show your moves"?"

"Exactly! How did...oh, I guess you must've met him as well."

"Indeed. That was Captain Falcon, who's been in four tournaments. My father actually lost to him in the qualification matches, and I might've as well if Robin, my husband, hadn't joined me. So, Prince...I mean, Emperor Ephraim has been here?"

"Yes. He's always enjoyed fighting for sport, even if he has to settle for watching. So, when he's "had enough politics for one day", he comes here to cheer while green clad elves and rodents with lighting bolt shaped tails try to bash each other's heads in. I swear, some boys never grow up."

Lucina giggled, which caused her cuddly body to wobble like gelatin. "True, but some of them are still endearing." Lucina’s weight was mainly focused on her lower half. By now, her thighs melted over her seat, sagging heavy with a rear wide enough to completely blanket her chair, giving her the fake appearance of hovering over the ground. Eirika remained quite belly heavy, similar to when she first appeared to the blue haired princess. The tanking middle slumped over her lap, creating a horizon that hindered her sight. It ballooned into a hillside curve that obstructed the view of her new ally who was right in front of her, only giving her the image of a meatball sub as it slowly ventured into her gluttonous gullet, aided by her chubby digits.

"Anyway," Eirika went on. "He remembered fighting alongside you as an einherjar, and he'd watched your matches here. He noticed you and some of the others were getting...plump, and looked into it. He found out about the eat off you participated in some time ago and...well, imagine my surprise when he tells me that, since he won the wager, I had to enter."

Lucina blushed. “Was he serious?”

"I'm afraid so. In fact, he even rubbed it in a bit. He brought up how, before the war, that I could act as a stand-in for him, since he was determined to become a mercenary at the time. He'd said I was so skinny that no one would realize I wasn't a boy. Then, he told me that I wouldn't have that problem anymore."

"Tell me you turned his face purple!"

"Threw in some red too. Still, I did lose. It seemed Azura learned more from me during our rivalry than I did from her." Eirika then looked down at her belly, which smothered her now plump knees and blocked any view of her feet. "I've never regretted being a woman of my word until now...I shudder to think how my allies from Magvel will react to this."

"I doubt you have anything to worry about. They trusted you through the war, and they know you to be brave and kindhearted. I wager that will count for far more than a few inches, or yards, on your waistline."

“Do you truly believe that?” Eirika asked, curiously.

"I am certain of it. In fact, I speak from experience. My beloved Robin has always been there to support me. And, not just him either. My parents, my sibling, my aunt Lissa, my cousin Owain, and everyone else still sees me for who I am rather than my girth. And, the Outrealms? Well, one of them was just like the future I'd sought to prevent, except it was even worse...but, that time, we had a chance to save it. I'll admit, I was scared of going back there, but, looking back, I think it was for the best. In a way, it was like I could make up for the lives I couldn't save, the people I couldn't take with me through the time portal. It was much the same for my father. Since he held himself responsible for his future self being unable to stop Grima, going to that nightmarish realm gave him the chance to do something about it."

"It must've taken a lot of courage to go through with that," Eirika opined after a thoughtful pause. "I imagine that's why Ephraim was so determined to rebuild Grado, since it was the best he could do to honor Lyon's memory."

"I imagine so, but he still deserved those bruises you gave him." Here, both women chuckled before Lucina continued. "Still, after seeing what I'd gone through, my father was glad to see that I was safe and comfortable. My father is a man after my ancestor, the Hero-King’s, own heart. He was so understanding…Although my allies from my era, Kjelle and Gerome, chastised me for, quite literally, going soft.”

“I take it they eventually came around?”

“After I trounced them both in a sparring match,” Lucina admitted with some pride. “I know how to throw my weight around, but my size really hasn’t hampered my fighting ability…or the power and speed of my Final Smash.”

Eirika tried to stifle a smile. “I suppose they were in for a rude awakening.”

“Yes, but I would be lying if I said full acceptance came instantly. In fact, my manakete friend Nowi was fixated on poking my belly and joked I was bigger than her own dragon form.

The restoration queen snickered. “It seems not all manaketes are as well-mannered as Myrrh.”

"Oh, I could tell you stories. Another Manakete from my world is Lady Tiki, the Voice of the Divine Dragon. She knew Marth and fought beside him, which makes her over three thousand years old, but she still has a childish streak. Her antics drove Say'ri, the princess of Chon'sin, up the wall. But, she's very sweet. When we first me, she mistook me for the Hero-King and called me Mar-Mar, an affectionate name she had for him. Talking with her really helped me understand and appreciate my roots, even when she'd be sneaking out of camp the next minute and Say'ri would be pulling out her hair trying to get Tiki to behave with some decorum."

"Perhaps you can tell me some of these stories," Eirika suggested. "I think I can learn a lot from you about how to make the most of my-"

The remainder of her sentence was forgotten when her stomach suddenly rumbled. The Restoration Queen stared at her paunch in utter astonishment.

"How in Saint Latona's name can I be hungry?!" she exclaimed in disbelief. "I just ate, and it was enough for a family of six!"

"You'd better get used to that," Lucina jibbed, accentuating her point by giving her belly a proud slap that sent it wobbling.

"Well then," Eirika said, her disbelief over her hunger quickly being overpowered by her bigger body's demands for sustenance. "I guess we'll swapping stories and recipes over lunch, if you'd care to join me?"

Lucina positively beamed, her chubby, round face lighting up with glee. “It would be an honor, milady. I would like to ask if you would be interested in an inter-realm eating competition…But first let us start with a light snack and tales of our adventures.”

Eirika smiled and nodded. "That sounds wonderful. Now, you know how one of my einherjar selves was fighting in a Bride's dress? Well, there's a bit of a story behind that. It all started..."
